Iran, China, and Russia have established a strong relationship in recent years, particularly in the areas of trade and security cooperation.

China is Iran’s largest trading partner, and Iran has become a key participant in China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which aims to connect Asia, Europe, and Africa through infrastructure development and economic cooperation. Iran’s participation in the BRI has led to increased investment from China in Iran’s infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing sectors.

Russia and Iran have also formed close ties, particularly in the area of defense cooperation. The two countries have conducted joint military exercises and Russia has provided military and technical support to Iran. Additionally, Russia has been a key partner in Iran’s nuclear program and has worked with Iran to ensure compliance with international agreements.

In recent years, the three countries have also come together to oppose U.S. sanctions against Iran. In 2020, China and Russia vetoed a U.S.-sponsored resolution at the United Nations Security Council that would have extended an arms embargo on Iran.

Overall, the relationship between Iran, China, and Russia is characterized by shared economic and strategic interests, as well as a desire to counterbalance U.S. influence in the region.
