Antony Blinken is an American diplomat and politician who is currently serving as the United States Secretary of State in the administration of President Joe Biden. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on January 26, 2021, and assumed office on January 28, 2021.
Blinken was born on April 16, 1962, in New York City, and he grew up in Paris and New York. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and his law degree from Columbia Law School.
Blinken has a long career in public service and foreign policy. He served as the Deputy Secretary of State during the Obama administration from 2015 to 2017, and he also served as the Deputy National Security Advisor to President Obama from 2013 to 2015. In addition, he worked as the staff director for the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee when Biden was the chairman.
Blinken has also worked in the private sector, including as a managing director at the investment firm Pine Island Capital Partners and as a founding partner of WestExec Advisors, a strategic advisory firm.
As Secretary of State, Blinken is responsible for leading U.S. foreign policy and representing the United States in international affairs. Some of his key priorities include strengthening relationships with allies, addressing global challenges such as climate change
